“Aviation
is proof that given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.”—Eddie
Rickenbacker
It was the dream
of a generation to fly across the Atlantic Ocean when Charles Lindbergh
climbed into the Spirit of St. Louis on a gray, rainy day in 1927. But
his success was far from assured. “This fellow Charles Lindbergh will
never make it,” said millionaire aviation enthusiast Harry Guggenheim.
“He’s doomed.” But, as history revealed, Lindbergh was successful in
achieving the seemingly impossible.
