Diversity in the Space Industry
Minority students
and professionals that are seeking careers in the Aerospace industry
are finding out that more opportunities exist then ever before. Minority
graduate engineers and scientists are an important resource and Aerospace
companies are competing to hire them before they even graduate. The
minorities that exist in the Aerospace industry today are not only role
models for students and professionals alike but they are paving the
way for future minority engineers and scientists to follow in their
footsteps.
Creating a diverse
workforce is no longer a plan of action; it is a reality in most aerospace
companies. Companies have long established diversity initiatives that
insure that the recruiting and hiring of minority engineers and scientists
is a priority. These initiatives include high school mentoring programs,
college recruiting and minority engineering programs. Over the last
twenty-five years these bold steps have led to opportunities for minorities
that never existed before. Today there are more minorities in the aerospace
workforce than any other time in the history of the space industry.
Aerospace companies
are looking for qualified engineers and scientists from all technological
fields to work on current and next generation aerospace projects. Never
before has there been a greater need for engineering and science students
along with professionals to enter these high-tech professions. The following
pages spotlight the top Aerospace companies that exist today and the
opportunities that await graduate engineers and scientists.
