With the Japanese and Chinese laying the ground works
for future manned space flights in the next ten years,
NASA and its contractors will face new competition in
the commercial Space markets. With already established
competing space programs, including Russia and European
Space Agency, meeting this future challenge will not
be easy. American companies such as Northrop Grumman,
Lockheed Martin, TRW, Raytheon, The Boeing Company,
United Space Alliance and Sea Launch are all working
with NASA insuring that America maintains its lead in
space exploration and its commercialization. Today and
tomorrow's minority american engineers and scientists
are playing key leadership roles in helping America
meet this future challenge.
Graduation
Opportunities
College students within one to two years of graduation
face a vast number of challenges and opportunities,
along with many obstacles before they graduate. Preparing
yourself for your new career and learning how to avoid
pitfalls should be considered. Many resources exist
to help students with short and long term career decisions,
including add personal goal setting. Two of these are
Minority Engineering Programs and internships.
Government
Contracts, SBA, and the Diversity Supplier
Government Contracts are being awarded to small, medium
and large businesses each day. These contracts include
the gamut of government services and support functions.
Finding source information on these contracts and submitting
detailed proposals can be difficult and crucial to the
success of companies depending on these Government contracts.
The Federal government has an obligation by law to include
diversity suppliers in its bidding and awarding of these
contracts. Companies that receive some government contracts
are also required to include diversity suppliers to
meet the government contract parameters. The Small Business
Administration (SBA) is helping minority businesses
connect and compete in various marketplaces. The SBA
also provides various networks that establish lines
of communication between diversity suppliers and potential
government agencies. There are many benefits that are
awarded to minority businesses to help them achieve
in the marketplace, and the SBA is helping to bridge
the gap.
