CAREERS IN THE NATIONAL DEFENSE

The United States Armed Forces is made up of five separate branches, the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and the Navy. The President of the United States is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. In this capacity he issues orders to the operating military commands through the Secretary of Defense or the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, who also serve him collectively as an advisory body. Each branch of the Armed Forces is unique and has a history of its own that they cherish and celebrate. Although all the branches are united in serving and protecting the United States each plays a very important role in the sense of the nation. As the Armed Forces looks towards the 21st century, it needs qualified young men and women to be leaders for tomorrow. Each branch offers the physical training, academic advancement, meaningful employment, economic security, and worldwide travel, but the most valuable commodity is opportunity.
